In March 2024, our community in Bergton, Virginia, faced a devastating wildfire that tested the strength and resilience of everyone involved. Among those who risked their lives to protect us was Firefighter Jimmy Mongold, a true hero who sustained serious injuries while battling the blaze. Despite months of intensive care and rehabilitation, Jimmy’s recovery took an unexpected turn when he was suddenly sent home from his treatment facility without prior notice to his family. This has left the Mongold family in urgent need of our support.
Ongoing Support: Monthly Fundraisers
To ensure that Jimmy receives the care he needs, we are launching monthly fundraisers. These events are more than just opportunities to raise funds—they’re a way for us to show our gratitude and support for Jimmy and his family during this challenging time. All proceeds will go directly toward medical expenses, therapy, home care, and other essential needs.
Ways You Can Contribute
There are several ways you can help Jimmy and his family:
- GoFundMe: You can make a donation directly to Jimmy’s GoFundMe page here.
- Square Account: Alternatively, you can contribute through our Square account here.
